About me

I always feel a little awkward when I think about what to put here, because what do I really say to explain myself? This is why I take pictures, people — so I don’t have to explain. It’s odd — normally I’m a chronic logorrheic, but when I have to talk about myself, I don’t know where to start.

I guess I start with the basics. 32 going on 13, born and raised in Southern California, live in Sacramento, high school English teacher, grad student, photographer, traveler, adventurer, reader, blogger, optimist, skeptic. I have a boyfriend named John and a horse named Moose, both of whom keep me sane in different ways. I’m mercurial and stubborn and sarcastic and silly, and did I mention mercurial? ‘Cause, yeah. That.

My vices are ice cream, Wikipedia surfing, new technology gadgets, and the fact that there aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do. I get impatient and then grumpy when people don’t want to try things and are afraid to learn.

I’m an introvert at heart, which is one of the reasons I love photography — it gives me an excuse to hang back and observe as well as an opening for conversation.

The below pictures amuse me. Four were taken with a cameraphone. Three were taken at the barn. Three have three different animals in them. They were taken with three different cameras. The two that weren’t at the barn were taken in Europe last summer (Prague and Cologne.) In two of them, I’m wearing the same t-shirt (for a kickball team I was on.) In two of them, I’m wearing the same vest. Only one of them has my boyfriend. Sorry, hon. :-)
