August 10 on 10: Troubleshooting.

I will get back to this blog eventually–honest. I actually debating skipping doing this 10 on 10, since there are a ton of other things I should be doing, but I ultimately decided to cameraphone it, so that way I could keep some continuity going.

Yesterday was all about troubleshooting. OK, maybe not all, but mostly. Over the course of the day, I troubleshot wifi, a printer, network wiring, a computer, interpersonal communication, an instant messaging client, a sprinkler, and a bucking horse (not mine, thankfully.)

I was supposed to spend the morning at work in a teacher inservice. Instead, I ended up at another school site, troubleshooting wifi and printers. Because of this, I forgot that it was actually the 10th until I got back to my school around 11:30. Whoops. So that’s when my pictures begin.

12ish. I got back about a half hour before lunch. I had no idea what was going on, and I was completely starving, so I availed myself of the trail mix and pretzel mix that they had in bowls on the table. Then I wasn't hungry for lunch. Whoops.

1ish. After lunch, we got to go tour the new building we're going to move into around Christmas. Right now we're in an old military office building. It's tiny, incredibly cramped, two stories with a small staircase, and definitely not OSHA-compliant. Our new building is actually old--it used to be the old bowling alley on base--but they gutted it and completely redid it for our needs. No more one-butt hallway!! We have space!! And the best part?? I GET AN OFFICE!!! I have to share it, but still--y'all have NO CLUE how happy this makes me. So anyway, this pic is my coworkers checking out our new digs. :-)

2ish. I'd ALMOST gotten back to the meeting--literally, I had parked in our lot and was crossing the street to the building where our meeting was. And then one of the office staff came chasing after me--apparently the front desk computer had been down all day. So I ended up trouble-shooting it and not making it back to my meeting. Whoops. Anyway, this is a sign that I made last year that's on my desk at work. The problem with this sign was that once I made it, I kept thinking of more ridiculous excuses that I've heard from students. Seriously though, I do hear these on pretty much a weekly basis. And it gets old. Their appointment is one hour per week--that's really not too much to ask, in my opinion. Anyway.

3ish. The photo editing program on my camera phone has a "heat map" filter that I've never used before. But I was trying to figure a way to capture the baking heat when I walked out of our overly-airconditioned building into the Sacramento-in-August parking lot. So here's a picture of the sun using the heat map filter. Kinda fun!

4ish. At the barn, getting ready to ride. :-)

5ish. I've been working on jumping lately--there's a show a week from this Sunday, and I'm going to go kick some butt. The jump we're going over is 2'3", which isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it's the highest we've jumped so far, so I'm pretty darn proud, especially since we've only been at this whole jumping thing for about 2.5 weeks. :-)

6ish. Dinnertime for horses named Moose. :-) I love this animal so, so, SO much.

7ish. I get home from the barn, and there's a helicopter circling our block, and the guy in it is yelling something unintelligible on the loudspeaker. He continued to circle for, oh, close to ten minutes, I think. The joys of living downtown...

8ish--grocery shopping. I don't generally make New Year's resolutions like everyone else. Having been in some form of education my entire life, my year begins when school starts in September... er, August. Earlier and earlier in August--I've never started this early (today!! August 11th!) before. Anyway, one of my new school year resolutions is to get in the habit of making myself a decent, healthy lunch every day, and to get my stinking five servings of fruits and veggies in. Hence the contents of this cart.

9ish. I bet YOUR Safeway doesn't have a large, metal horse in front of it. Actually, I'm not sure why ours does, but I think it's pretty neat.

OK, off to the first day of school! :-)

The Safeway in Fair Oaks has a big metal chicken out front. Shudder.

We don't have a Safeway, let alone one with any sort of metal creature in front of it. Kind of jealous.
